Hi Dina -
MLGSCA just finished with our Spring CE program and we were thrilled with the turnout! The two programs (one in CA and one in AZ) featured Michael Miller, the Tech Coord at PSRML presenting "Geeks Bearing Gifts" which is an overview of new technologies like podcasting, open source, voIP, etc.
Each year we send out a survey listing 5-8 topics of interest and ask our members to rate them for upcoming CE. This topic has been #1 for the past 2 years, and we were finally able to make it work.
We had 58 people registered for the CA program, and 34 for AZ. The numbers for AZ were especially good since MLA is coming up in Phoenix and we expected many people would hold off attending CE, but we were pleasantly surprised. Our fall meeting had 60 in CA, so 58 was about right. Since the majority of our Advisory Council is in southern CA, we do a Business Meeting 1 hour before the program, and then an AC meeting after the program in the afternoon. This format has worked well for us over the years. We serve a buffet continental breakfast and this time offered deli platters and salads for lunch. We also provide a mid-afternoon snack.
Hope this information is helpful!
